Nick Young Suggests Uber Driver May Have Rejected Him Because He’s Black

A certain basketball star has a bone to pick with Uber. Just yesterday (July 13), Nick Young took to Twitter to issue a complaint against the popular rideshare service. Uber may be the leading name in taxi-style rides, but they’re far too familiar with cases where customers have stated they’ve been victims of certain drivers’ racial biases.

According to Nick, the color of his skin may have been the reason a woman didn’t want to give him a ride in her car, even though she pulled up right in front of him. “Hey @Uber yesterday a Non-Blk lady cancel on me in my face she pull up I ask her are you here for nick she said yes I turn around to pick up my bag and she drove off & I got charged with a cancellation fee when she’s the one who cancel,” Swaggy P tweeted.

Just as Nick Young shared his brief story publicly, Uber responded on the social media platform, as well. “We’re sorry to hear about this experience. Please send us a DM with the phone number associated with your Uber account, so we can assist you further.” Uber has been fraught with racially-driven controversies, including facing accusations that they inflate their prices in communities with larger populations of Black and Brown people.

The product in question is not a physical item but an incident involving Nick Young, a professional basketball player. Young suggested that he faced discrimination from an Uber driver because of his race. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of racial bias and discrimination that many people of color face in various aspects of life, including transportation services. It’s a reminder that companies like Uber need to continuously work on their policies to ensure equality and non-discrimination for all customers.

That moment recently came full circle when the fan got a meet-and-greet with Young Thug on Monday. Thugger Daily proved he hadn’t forgotten the one who managed to find her way to him during such a difficult time, when the rapper learned her name and knew it was her.

A$AP Rocky back in Stockholm as “Don’t Be Dumb” tour hits Sweden

A$AP Rocky has returned to Sweden, bringing his “Don’t Be Dumb” world tour to Stockholm, years after the city became inseparable from one of the most difficult stretches of his career. The artist will be in Stockholm on Monday as part of his ongoing international tour. The visit is significant because of what transpired in Sweden in 2019, when Rocky was arrested and held for nearly a month following an alleged fight.

The incident was a big deal at the time and even drew comments from then-President Donald Trump, who publicly said Rocky should come home. The story became a big one for the rapper, and when he returned to Sweden years later, it was a notable moment on his latest tour.

An artist who had been through such a difficult situation in a country would have easily ruled out returning. Instead, Stockholm is now just another stop on the tour Rocky has been on, playing to large crowds in markets worldwide.
