Q&A with James D. Love

1. What’s your full name, age, and where are you from?

My name is James D. Love, I’m 27 years old, and I’m from the westside of Atlanta, Ga.

2. What do you do for a living?

I do a few things actually… My main talent is photography. I own and operate a studio located in downtown Atlanta called AreaFourTwelve, where I shoot celebrity clients, brands, and models. I’m also a DJ for events and night clubs.

3. Who are some of your biggest influences in your industry?

So far as the photography aspect of my career,  I without question have to say people within the likes of Mike Tang in Los Angeles, and the talents of ShotBySed from Atlanta, have had a sizable influence on me, my style and the way I choose to work.
Mike Tang, also known as Ohrangutang Photography’s images have been favorites of mine for years now… I still look to him for inspiration till this day! I have some kind of infatuation on the way he directs and captures very genuine moments with his models and the overall mood he portrays in his images. He does like a natural sexy kind of thing, but it’s not sexual; and I love that. All of his images seem natural… Almost as if it’s just him and the model hanging out, and they just so happen to get amazing images.
Sed has always been and continues to be very innovative in his career when it comes to the way he lights his images, his overall color scheme, props, and cleanliness. In my opinion, you can not talk about the Atlanta photography scene between the years of 2014-2019 and not mention his name. He is for sure one of the trendsetters in ATL when it comes to photography.
On the DJ side, It’s an honor to say that one of my biggest influencers was also my teacher and is a good friend of mine, DJ PForReal, who also happens to be Lil Uzi Vert’s DJ. I’ve had an interest in being a DJ since I was maybe 9 years old; But growing up, I could never afford the equipment. It wasn’t until I started making my own money in college that I was able to purchase what I needed to jumpstart this interest/ hobby of mine. PForReal and I went to college together and we met around the same time I was just starting up my photography career… One thing led to another via conversation and we came to an agreement that in exchange for photos he’d teach me how to mix, and it has been history ever since.

4. What would you consider your biggest accomplishment thus far in your career?

I have recently been picked up by the Record Label Authentic Empire as one of their cameramen. They have given me big opportunities and have put me in rooms with some very powerful people. I am without question enjoying my time with them. The people there are great and I am looking forward to where they take me in as well as where the company goes.

5. What legacy would you like to leave behind for yourself?

I want people to look at visuals whether it be pictures or video and hear club DJs and think to themselves… “That was some James D. Love level sh*t.” I want people to see my work and understand how different, complex, and/or genuine it is. I took something that you were already familiar with and reintroduced it to you with a twist. When you see my images, You feel what the model felt, you feel the colors, understand the angle, and take in everything that it took to create this.

My goal every time I DJ is to not only make sure they have a good time, but I want to give them an experience they can not get anywhere else. I strive to make sure I represent every era, region, and vibe in the crowd. I show off versatility which is why I continue to get booked.

6.  Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

James D. Love is going to be sitting on M’s fasho! I’m working on getting my restaurant up and running. My studio will be huge and one of the most notable ones in the city. I will continue to be booked for my musical experiences in clubs and other events. I’m ready for my future… Nothing will change, my stage and bank account will just be bigger.

NNORDY steps into jazz fusion with latest release “Wrong Turn”

NNORDY

NNORDY’s latest release, “Wrong Turn” is a fully live jazz fusion album that showcases the limitless possibilities of instrumental storytelling with the remarkable chemistry between guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums. The song has no words but is an excellent story told through musicianship and sets the stage for listeners to embark on a rich jazz experience.

“Wrong Turn” shows the strength of live performance from the get-go. Each instrument feels alive and in conversation with the others, a dynamic dialogue that develops organically over the course of the piece. Without vocal guidance, each musical phrase is left to speak for itself, giving the listener the freedom to interpret the track in their own way.

The guitar and keyboards often lead, crafting complex melodic lines and textures that give the music direction and atmosphere. Meanwhile, the bass and drums lay down a solid rhythmic base, creating movement and momentum while still leaving a lot of room for exploration. NNORDY creates a track that both dedicated jazz fans and listeners looking for something adventurous and fresh will enjoy. “Wrong Turn” shows that instrumental music can be as expressive and compelling as vocal music.

TABOO ZERO unveils tthe beauty of unexpected connection on new release “Stay”

TABOO ZERO

TABOO ZERO beckons emotional honesty and timeless storytelling with “Stay,” a captivating alternative duet about the rare and transformative experience of finding something real when you least expect it.

The track, influenced by the romantic ambiance of Meet Joe Black, develops with a wonderful patience, letting its emotions breathe naturally. “Stay” works best when it isn’t rushing towards dramatic conclusions. Every beat is intentional. It’s a listening experience that slowly brings audiences into its story.

The track is based around a story of connection, which feels authentic, vulnerable, and refreshingly sincere. The duet format helps in this emotional dynamic, with the voices working in tandem to communicate longing, hope, and the uncertainty that often comes with significant relationships. The chemistry in the performance lends a human quality to the song that can’t be ignored.

It’s one of the most striking things about it, “Stay,” managing to feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. Its low-key approach is a throwback to classic, emotionally driven songs, but never feels stuck in the past. TABOO ZERO instead redefines heartfelt storytelling with a modern voice, proving that true emotion is always in style.
