Matthew Pinder Delivers Highly Anticipated Indie-Folk EP ‘Seated In The Sun’
‘Seated In The Sun’ is a collection of four captivating tracks recounting stories of hopelessness, embracing change, and finding peace with an innovative, pop-kissed folk sound.
Bahamian folk artist Matthew Pinder excitedly welcomes the long-awaited release of his new EP, ‘Seated In The Sun,’ out November 5. Pinder’s soothing vocals and introspective lyricism couple to create a mesmerizing soundtrack that eases the soul despite exploring heavy-hearted subject matter. The caliber of intentional, profound artistry captured on this project implores listeners to surrender their full attention to every word Pinder whispers. This release follows the recent previews “Cascade,” “Used To Say,” and “Stars,” completing the collection with the final track, “Plans,” featuring Sara Davis Regan. Pinder describes this project as “songs made in many little rooms,” in reference to the difficult, yet undeniably successful remote recording process with this project. ‘Seated In The Sun’ was made in collaboration with co-producers Mitch Webb and Sara Davis Regan, and Sherwood Rahming, who worked closely with Pinder in the early stages of creating the EP.

Listeners can stream ‘Seated In The Sun’ on all major streaming platforms November 5.
Matthew Pinder is a Bahamian singer-songwriter who has established a quintessential sound within the indie-folk space over the last few years. Pinder often sings from his own experiences allowing his music to leave an “indelible mark on indie-folk music” (B-Sides & Badlands). First gaining recognition for his viral hit single “Golden Hour” – still one of his most popular releases today with over 2 million streams – he soon followed with the release of the full-length album, Give Me Some Time which was hailed as “Pinder’s magnum opus: a debut so rich and extravagantly heart-rending and deeply-crushing” (B-Sides & Badlands). Soon after, Pinder took a break from music to focus on his mental health until he was ready to begin on his next project, set to release later this fall. Working with local studio engineer/producer Sherwood Rahming and past collaborators Mitch Webb and Sara Davis Regan, Pinder is eager to make music “fun” again by making it with people and friends along the way. Nonetheless, fans can still expect his modern flair with the influences of classic singer-songwriters and present-day artists, all melded into a sound completely his own.

Kalpee Honors Heritage and Heart on His Emotion-Rich New EP Dougla Boi
Kalpee is back with Dougla Boi, a beautiful new EP that is both personal and powerful. It gives listeners a close look at the layers of identity, heritage, and emotion that make him who he is. The Trinidad and Tobago artist is confident in his own space, which is rooted in New Calypso and polished with hints of dancehall, R&B, and afrobeats. In this space, genre bends, but emotion leads.
Named after the Trinidadian word for someone of mixed African and Indian heritage, Dougla Boi is honest, proud, and warm about the complexities of culture. Kalpee opens a window into the dualities that define him across six tracks, turning personal truth into universal resonance. The EP is just under 19 minutes long, but every second is carefully planned to take listeners on a journey through courage, joy, healing, and the quiet strength that comes from accepting all parts of yourself.
The first single, “Under,” stands out right away for its calming yet emotionally charged experience. Kalpee’s voice flows over a beat that sounds both new and old, fitting the EP’s theme of bringing cultures together. It’s one of the best examples of how he can mix soft and hard sounds, which is what makes his New Calypso sound so unique.
“Everybody,” which features Full Blown, is another excellent song that has already done very well. It has a happy vibe and an infectious bounce, making it one of the EP’s most replayable songs. “Everybody” captures the spirit of community and shared experience, which is what Kalpee means when he says that identity is not a box but a rhythm.
