LearningToDive, the musical alter ego of producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Bravo Bonez, delves into the realm of electric pop melodies, blending rock vibes with their latest single, “Trust In Me,” featuring Bravo Bonez himself. Released on the 9th of June, 2023, this track showcases a departure from the artist’s usual retro and lo-fi sound, exploring darker and more complex themes.
With “Trust In Me,” LearningToDive delves into the painful reality of gaslighting, a psychological tactic used to control others by denying their truth. The song becomes a beacon of hope for those silently suffering, trapped in situations where their torment goes unnoticed by those who should offer support. It sheds light on the isolation and loneliness that often accompany being the target of gaslighting while extending a message of solidarity to the victims.
Influenced by the late Terry Hall, renowned for his work with The Specials, Fun Boy Three, and The Colourfield, Bravo Bonez unintentionally incorporates elements of Hall’s sound into this track. Bravo Bonez humbly acknowledges the magnitude of Hall’s talent yet takes pride in the unique direction he has taken with this song.

“Ultra Sound” is a great track because of its unique idea, a sexy fembot synth lures astronauts into a trap, then uses an ultrasonic tractor beam to steal their ship. It’s fun, a little strange, and very different from what you usually hear in pop music. This lets Captain Iron show off his unique lyrical style. The story feels like it’s moving forward with each beat, like it’s a movie.
It’s easy to see how “Ultra Sound” could grow even further with full-scale production or collaboration, since its foundation already offers plenty of possibilities. Captain Iron / Windrift Band gives us a song that is both fun and smart. “Ultra Sound” doesn’t just want people to dance, it wants to take them to a colorful, imaginative world where stories and sounds come together thrillingly.
