LearningToDive’s “Trust In Me” feat. Bravo Bonez, A Dark Trip Hop Anthem for the Gaslighting Victims.

LearningToDive

LearningToDive, the musical alter ego of producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Bravo Bonez, delves into the realm of electric pop melodies, blending rock vibes with their latest single, “Trust In Me,” featuring Bravo Bonez himself. Released on the 9th of June, 2023, this track showcases a departure from the artist’s usual retro and lo-fi sound, exploring darker and more complex themes.

With “Trust In Me,” LearningToDive delves into the painful reality of gaslighting, a psychological tactic used to control others by denying their truth. The song becomes a beacon of hope for those silently suffering, trapped in situations where their torment goes unnoticed by those who should offer support. It sheds light on the isolation and loneliness that often accompany being the target of gaslighting while extending a message of solidarity to the victims.

Influenced by the late Terry Hall, renowned for his work with The Specials, Fun Boy Three, and The Colourfield, Bravo Bonez unintentionally incorporates elements of Hall’s sound into this track. While “Trust In Me” leans more towards trip-hop than ska or pop, the vocal delivery and production bear traces of Hall’s influence. Bravo Bonez humbly acknowledges the magnitude of Hall’s talent yet takes pride in the unique direction he has taken with this song.

The composition itself is a dramatic and dark trip-hop anthem infused with a sense of optimism. The trumpet adds a poignant and emotional touch that complements the repeated refrain of “I will believe you now!” that resonates throughout the track. Bravo Bonez’s songwriting and composition skills shine through, creating a sonic landscape that perfectly captures the mood and theme of the song.

The production quality of “Trust In Me” is exceptional, thanks to the co-production efforts of Greg Haver, known for his work with Manic Street Preachers and Mel C. The track was engineered and mixed by Clint Murphy, who has worked with renowned artists like Enter Shikari and 50 Cent. Additional vocals by Alba Rose and drums by Greg Haver add depth and texture to the overall sound.

Released under the PureSound label, “Trust In Me” was recorded at PureSound Studios in New Zealand and mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, Nashville, USA. The attention to detail in the production and mastering contributes to the song’s captivating atmosphere and sonic richness.

“Trust In Me” by LearningToDive featuring Bravo Bonez is an inspiring song that sheds light on the struggles of gaslighting victims. The dark trip-hop melody and honest lyrics showcase Bravo Bonez as a fearless artist who delves into profound themes of vulnerability and resilience.

E.G. Phillips explores cosmic escape with “Please Don’t Make Me Come Back from the Moon”

E.G. Phillips

E.G. Phillips’ new release, “Please Don’t Make Me Come Back from the Moon,” is a track that drifts effortlessly between genres and atmospheres. “Please Don’t Make Me Come Back from the Moon” is an experience that feels suspended in time and space.

Blending alt-folk with jazz-fusion touches, the track creates a dreamy and unpredictable wave of radio-static textures that ripple beneath the verses, giving the impression of floating through an unfamiliar yet comforting universe. There’s a sense of detachment here, as if reality has been left behind entirely.

Just as listeners settle into its hazy rhythm, the bridge shifts gears into a jazz-rock groove, complete with trumpet lines that subtly nod to a fusion-inspired legacy. This transition feels organic, enhancing the track’s exploratory nature rather than disrupting it. “Please Don’t Make Me Come Back from the Moon” is a beautifully strange offering that invites listeners to step outside themselves and embrace the unknown, even if only for a few minutes.

Captain Iron and the Windrift Band put on a sci-fi pop show with new release “Ultra Sound”

Captain Iron / Windrift Band

Captain Iron / Windrift Band opens a vivid portal with “Ultra Sound,” a bold, creative dance-pop song that fully embraces cinematic storytelling. From the outset, the track establishes itself as more than just a catchy club-ready anthem, it’s a narrative-driven experience wrapped in glossy, futuristic production.

“Ultra Sound” is a great track because of its unique idea, a sexy fembot synth lures astronauts into a trap, then uses an ultrasonic tractor beam to steal their ship. It’s fun, a little strange, and very different from what you usually hear in pop music. This lets Captain Iron show off his unique lyrical style. The story feels like it’s moving forward with each beat, like it’s a movie.

It’s easy to see how “Ultra Sound” could grow even further with full-scale production or collaboration, since its foundation already offers plenty of possibilities. Captain Iron / Windrift Band gives us a song that is both fun and smart. “Ultra Sound” doesn’t just want people to dance, it wants to take them to a colorful, imaginative world where stories and sounds come together thrillingly.
