Cardi B Smokes 3 Cigarettes At Once To Deal With Election Stress

We all could use a breather after this nail-biter of an election.

With the race still too close to call, it’s not clear whether Joe Biden will become the next President of the United States or if President Donald Trump will be re-elected. Biden is still holding a slight lead in the electoral college votes but he must win in several key states, including Michigan, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and more, if he wants to win the entire race.

While it may take all of today, and even a few extra days, to declare the winner in the 2020 Presidential Election, the world is watching intently. Cardi B woke up at 5 AM to cast her vote yesterday and, as she watched the results flash on her television screen, she was as stressed as you and me about what she was seeing.

Some Democratic voters went into the day with the belief that a Biden landslide would occur and, as Cardi B and many others figured out, that was not the case.

“How these elections got me watching these states turn red,” wrote Cardi on Instagram, posting a video of her smoking not one, not two, but three cigarettes simultaneously to dwell the election stress.

Her lungs won’t be thanking her but if that’s what she needs to relax right now — and we all could use some relaxation after this — then that’s what she needs.

Kieran James Honors Memory with “Part of the Grind”

Honk Magazine Filter

Singer-songwriter Kieran James delivers a devastating new single with “Part of the Grind,” a track to tackle the tangled emotions behind loss and memory. A love letter penned to a close friend who faced severe cognitive decline, the song’s emotional heft feels universal yet heartbreakingly personal.

Set to delicate instrumentation and achingly sung vocals, “Part of the Grind” is both a lament and an honoring, a means of remembering while addressing the unavoidable cost of time and illness. His voice floats, leaving room for silence and the long pauses that so often come with grief. But in that silence, there is warmth as well, a refusal to let memory be totally extinguished.

Resilience is also implied in the song’s title, a reminder that even in heartbreak, life goes on and holding the memory of someone stays with the rhythm of everyday living. it’s an anthem for anyone who has ever looked on witnessing decline, mixed sorrow with love.

In Kieran James’s “Part of the Grind,” we hear music as well as go behind it. He gives us room feel, to mourn, and to honor. In the process, he turns private pain into something achingly universal, a song for everyone who has either loved or lost.
