N.O.R.E’s Gifted A Surplus Of D’usse & Ace Of Spades: “Jay-Z’s Bullying Me”

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that N.O.R.E. is a big fan of liquor. The title of his podcast, Drink Champs tells you that already. That being said, you can only imagine what the reaction of someone like him would be when a surplus of Ace Of Spades and D’Usse arrives at the door. Being a TIDAL affiliate and all, the rapper-turned-journalist received a care package from HOV the other day that included many, many bottles of Jay-Z-owned brands of liquors.

“You think I enjoy this?! You don’t think that I want to be just drinking all this Ace Of Spades and D’Usse. This is abuse,” he jokingly declared in an IG video showing off the many bottles. “Jay-Z’s bullying me! This is the best form of bullying I’ve ever been bullied,” he continued with a laugh. “Okay, fine! I’ll drink all this shit!” He sarcastically continued.

If you didn’t know, N.O.R.E is a huge fan of champagne. Jay’s Ace of Spades, specifically. Last month, the rapper took to the ‘Gram where he declared that he drinks more Ace of Spades that Jay-Z himself which doesn’t actually seem too far fetched, if you think about it.

“To be honest, I just might send Jay-Z this video’ cause I think I drink more Ace Of Spades than Hov’ do,” he said before doubling down on the claim. It doesn’t seem like it wouldn’t be the case but perhaps, one day, Jay will sit down on the Drink Champs and clarify that for himself.

Kieran James Honors Memory with “Part of the Grind”

Honk Magazine Filter

Singer-songwriter Kieran James delivers a devastating new single with “Part of the Grind,” a track to tackle the tangled emotions behind loss and memory. A love letter penned to a close friend who faced severe cognitive decline, the song’s emotional heft feels universal yet heartbreakingly personal.

Set to delicate instrumentation and achingly sung vocals, “Part of the Grind” is both a lament and an honoring, a means of remembering while addressing the unavoidable cost of time and illness. His voice floats, leaving room for silence and the long pauses that so often come with grief. But in that silence, there is warmth as well, a refusal to let memory be totally extinguished.

Resilience is also implied in the song’s title, a reminder that even in heartbreak, life goes on and holding the memory of someone stays with the rhythm of everyday living. it’s an anthem for anyone who has ever looked on witnessing decline, mixed sorrow with love.

In Kieran James’s “Part of the Grind,” we hear music as well as go behind it. He gives us room feel, to mourn, and to honor. In the process, he turns private pain into something achingly universal, a song for everyone who has either loved or lost.
