Shannon Sharpe Clears The Air After Nicki Minaj’s Diss

H

And legendary football player turned TV personality Shannon Sharpe just got caught up in the mix of some viral controversy about none other than rap queen Nicki Minaj. The NFL Hall of Famer already has some serious drama in his personal life, but a different kind of beef jump-started online recently, and it’s certainly unrelated to those issues. In the world of celeb beef, shit can go 0 to 100 real quick when something is misconstrued. It could even end up going viral on social media.

It all began with Nicki Minaj taking a swipe at Sharpe on the just-released “Banned From NO” remix, which also features her onetime mentor Lil Wayne. The diss had a lot of people scratching their heads, but to Sharpe, the cause of friction was a simple matter of crossed wires. Since then, the two have been in a feud for reasons that seem to stem from an old tweet. In it, a fan wrote that Nicki wanted to be heard on Sharpe’s podcast. His response? “Nicki who?” a response that quickly set off Nicki minaj’s army of devoted fans, the barbz, as they read his words as shade thrown Trinidad born superstar.

But Sharpe took to his Nightcap podcast to provide some helpful context on the matter. Sharpe explains that the post was not a diss in a rare candid response captured by The Shade Room. He was very much into the social media sparring over politician Nikki Haley at the time. So, when the tweet appeared, his reply was a legitimate query for a definition, not some snide jab at Minaj. “I wasn’t joking… or being disrespectful,” he allegedly responded, adding that he didn’t know which “Nicki” the fan was referring to amid the political chatter that allowed him to return to Twitter awareness with a vengeance.

Like so many viral spats in the digital age, this one illustrates how much intentions can get slipped and scrambled in the churn of online communication. Nicki’s lyric might have been about what looked like a snub over the track, though Sharpe’s affable response indicates no real beef on his side. Only time will tell if Nicki Minaj will also respond to Sharpe’s clarification, yet, for the time being, the ex-NFL player wants this small confusion to be a thing of the past. In the meantime, fans on both sides are to be left with yet more evidence that in the internet age, comments can run away with a life of their own.

Snoop Dogg Wants To Pay Someone $10,000 A Month To Eat Ice Cream

Snoop Dogg has had a lot of job titles over the years, but “official ice cream taster” wasn’t one of them until now — and he’s hiring someone else to fill it. His company Dr. Bombay just opened applications for the role, and it pays $10,000 a month.

The gig is fully remote and open to anyone on the planet, which Snoop announced himself in a video that’s exactly as laid-back as you’d expect. “I love the paper, but not the paperwork,” he said, explaining that HR firm Deel is handling the logistics while he handles, presumably, the ice cream.

The actual job is less “sit around and eat pints all day” and more part-time cultural scout. Whoever gets it will track flavor and food trends around the world, report back on what people are eating and talking about, and work directly with Dr. Bombay’s in-house flavor lead to help shape what the brand does next. It’s a three-month contractor role, and Snoop’s team says they’re actively looking outside the usual resume pile — creators and non-traditional applicants welcome.

Dr. Bombay itself leans nostalgic, with flavors like Long Beach Fruit Cart, Sticky Caramel Apple Pie, and Peanut Butter Jelly Time already sitting on shelves at Walmart and moving through DoorDash and Instacart. Somewhere out there is one very lucky applicant about to get paid five figures a month to have opinions about ice cream, and honestly, good for them.
