Questions:-

  1. Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Scott king: Growing up my brother Listened To Rakim a lot and Big Daddy Kane, The Juice Crew, Nas, Jay Z they all had lyrics and I liked how the painted pictures with words I was intrigued so I started writing at that point and I kept on working on perfecting my craft.

  1. Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started this career?

Scott king: Most Interesting?  Hmmmm I had a few dope stories I remember one time long ago seeing Jay Z in the elevator at Def Jam old building he was Still On Rocafella at that Time and I was in a group then and he walked on the elevator the door closed and I swear me and my guys rapped for him from the 70th floor to the lobby he just stood there listened and made that face like we was spitting that Hot Shit ….lol

  1. Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

Scott king: The funniest mistake was getting advance money and blowing it on material bullshit when I was young property owner in my neighborhood was low meaning affordable and I remember people offering properties like hey I’m selling this building and selling this store and I would just look at the condition of it and be like Naw I’m Good…. Man I wished I would have purchased one or two at least cause these same buildings and stores are now worth millions in Brooklyn I really could have been sitting on a fortune but when u young mama said it best, You Live and You Learn …

  1. What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?

  1. Who are some of the most interesting people you have interacted with? What was that like? Do you have any stories?

Scott king: The late great Chris Lighty, I had the chance to work with him for a few years got to know him well and his family we all became family friends and he took me and my group in and gave us our first opportunity, put on with his competitions and had us working with Artist like Ja rule, Busta Rhymes, Trina, and more another Dope person and I interacted with was Janet Jackson. I had a show in Los Angeles tears back and after I rocked the crowd I walked backstage and she was there with Jermaine Dupree and she came to and said “Great Job, you killed it” and I was shocked cause she is a legend in my eye and to get that from her was monumental.

  1. Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Scott king: I would say learn the business and understand what budget and what all the terms like 360 mean…. Getting a million dollar deal is dope sounds amazing but recouping that million these days are impossible unless you got the greatest song ever but they don’t explain the in and outs of that money being spent, and you look at it as if they got you living the life but that’s their job to make you spend your budget up and put you in debt. The cloths, The Cars, The Beats, The studio Time and more – all a set up if you are not smart. Sometime taking the least paper and just grinding extra might be the better way in the long run once you recouped back their money the rest is Yours…

  1. You have been blessed with success in a career path that can be challenging. Do you have any words of advice for others who may want to embark on this career path, but seem daunted by the prospect of failure?

Scott king: I say Try Your Best. I don’t hurt to give it a shot because you will never know what God has planned for you.  People will always be negative but if you believe in yourself, that’s all that matters and be careful of the industry people they smile and seem cool when they feel you are in the limelight but once the light stop shining them same guys you thought was cool and considered family – will shut you out in the end and your business venture. So keep it business.

  1. Can you share with our readers any self care routines, practices or treatments that you do to help your body, mind or heart to thrive? Kindly share a story or an example for each.

Scott king: With me I just try to stay sharp. I read a lot of books, I once sat and read the dictionary, studied the words and meaning even the thesaurus all that with widen your wordplay and practicing your craft trying to be creative, try different sounds and music not sticking to the same stuff. Never follow. Set your own trend.

Keep genuine people around, Work out, Get enough rest and have a prayer life. In short, tomorrow is never a Promised.

  1. What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why? Please share a story or example for each.

Scott king: I wish someone would said “SAVE”

If I would have saved my money and invested it right today I would have been set but again live and you learn

Don’t get COMFORTABLE. We tend to think when we have a little money, that we good and set man when life hit you with a reality check you can easily Hit Rock Bottom. So never depend on one thing or one source of income.

I wish someone gave me advice on what moves to make when the opportunities was placed in front of me because having the right team and people around you giving you proper info and tips is big for longevity.

I wish when I first started I made different moves and chose different avenues and gave some people the chance to help me but when you are up, everyone is in your ear downplaying the next person so they can either snake you or use you and I had to learn that hard way also.

  1. Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

Scott king: Calling or Thinking everyone is your friend. I have seen people I called family person and considered my brother – hang me out to dry numerous times. These are people I would of probably died for, but in the end they wouldn’t even took a scar for me. But when you got a heart like mine where you really give your all to a friendship it’s hard when they “shit” on you. So now I pick and choose who I want to share my energy with.

  1. None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?

Scott king: It’s Like 3 or 4 people …. One person I must say is my Mother she was the rock pushing and believing in me. Once again, I say Chris Lighty for introducing me to the music business and giving me the opportunity and another person is Jermaine Dupri who gave me my first Solo deal I learned a lot from him like pushing nonstop staying up late I would watch be in the studio all night to the Am go home pack his bag and head straight to the airport and be up all day again doing everything I’m Grateful to him and Chris and my mom and God.

  1. You are a person of enormous influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂

Scott king: I’m big on being able to give back to The Community once before I gave away 10k on Thanksgiving in my neighborhood instead of giving away turkeys like most people did. I gave away $50 gift cards and I always wondered when people give away turkeys to people who don’t have it financially, how will they be able to get whatever else needed to prepare the dinner? So I figured out that the 50 dollars would go further in their preparations. So I would I think starting movements like that would help out more especially on those days of celebrations where families come together.

  1. We are very blessed that some of the biggest names in Business, VC funding, Sports, and Entertainment read this column. Is there a person in the world, or in the US whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why? He or she might see this. 🙂

Scott king: I would say somebody like Dr.Dre, Micheal Jordan, Elon Musk, Diddy – just would sit with them and pick their brain and what was their drive and inspiration to do what they did what made them push forward when all the obstacles was in front of them, turning their dreams into reality and being legendary figures. I mean historic figures in this day and age I would love to pick their brains and see what made them great and what advise they would give me to be great like them.

The song’s heartbeat is firmly rooted in Afrobeat, establishing a dynamic rhythm that engages listeners from the outset. The funk guitar elements interlace throughout the composition, contributing a timeless energy. Additionally, the bilingual lyrics transition seamlessly between English and Spanish, reflecting Adrie’s diverse cultural heritage. This linguistic interplay underscores the overarching theme of the track: the complex relationship between light and darkness on both societal and personal levels.

Drawing inspiration from the surreal narrative of the television series ‘Twin Peaks,’ Adrie and Rulo explore the equilibrium between fear and hope. The lyrics are imbued with emotional depth, articulating Adrie’s battle with anxiety and her desire to foster positivity. Nevertheless, the overall composition rises above the melancholy theme, characterized by an uplifting rhythm and celebratory tone, encouraging listeners to engage intellectually, contemplate profoundly, and participate physically through dance.
