Kandle Brings A Timeless Lynchian Portrayal Of Heartbreak Gone Wrong To The Screen In New Video For “When It Hurts”

Today, JUNO nominee Kandle has shared the latest glimpse into the expanding Set The Fire universe of music videos with a timeless, Lynchian portrayal of a love gone wrong for “When It Hurts.” Starring Kandle and actor/musician, Keenan Tracey (known for his roles in The 100Bates Motel and will star in upcoming series, Day Of The Dead) the two are stuck in a time loop of paralysis — afraid to leave due to the fear of the unknown.

Kandle’s passion for visual storytelling is on full display, as every set was built in the confinement of Kandle’s apartment in Vancouver. The result is a haunted retro dreamscape created by patch-working together clever sets, thematic lighting, and a collection of props sourced through thrift stores and flea markets informed by films like Paris, Texas, and Blue Velvet — favorites of director Brandon William Fletcher.

Last year, the daughter of 54-40’s Neil Osborne crafted an EP during quarantine — produced w/ Martin “Youth” Glover (Paul McCartney, Kate Bush, The Verve), Liam O’Neil, and Warne Livesey (Midnight Oil, Matthew Goode). She was also in Jack White’s “Corporation” video and recently featured in Netflix’s Tiny Pretty Things.

Kandle also started a collection of drawings capturing some experiences faced by women in music – like these here.
