His work spans an inclusive blend of a variety of styles blending singer-songwriting as well as rap influences. His debut EP is out now. The “Words” EP was created in an attempt to disclose the roller coaster of emotions life deals us with. From personal relationships to battling with anxieties and depression. This five-track EP provides you with some upbeat pop while mixing in a chill hip hop vibe and almost a distorted rock track as well. Each song remains unique from the next. Each song speaks true to J LEE, and when played together best represents him as a whole. If asked to summarize himself in five paragraphs, this would be the outcome.
His personal introduction. Strategic with placement and deliveries. The EP opens up with the track ‘Alone,’ taking the listener back to his childhood where you can hear the sound of small town birds in the background. He writes about the hesitation of pursuing goals in an effort to provide support to the family. Skipping to the next track ‘Words,’ you can hear the chaos of a city as the song begins. Representing transition into a stealth world. From there he opens up admitting most of his flaws, and taking the listeners down a trip to the final track ‘Free.’ Which he claims has turned into somewhat of a personal anthem for himself. A reminder to forever keep pushing beyond any negativity one may be presented with, and break free from any past weight that may currently hold you down.”
J Lee’s “Words” is a record that stands out in the soul put into the music to make an intimate connection with the listener that could last a lifetime. The masterful approach to the music lets the care put into the music shine through, to make us all enjoy the many intricacies that were put into this record to make sure we all can keep being invested in this for the time to come. Kieran James Honors Memory with “Part of the Grind”
Singer-songwriter Kieran James delivers a devastating new single with “Part of the Grind,” a track to tackle the tangled emotions behind loss and memory. A love letter penned to a close friend who faced severe cognitive decline, the song’s emotional heft feels universal yet heartbreakingly personal.
Set to delicate instrumentation and achingly sung vocals, “Part of the Grind” is both a lament and an honoring, a means of remembering while addressing the unavoidable cost of time and illness. His voice floats, leaving room for silence and the long pauses that so often come with grief. But in that silence, there is warmth as well, a refusal to let memory be totally extinguished.
Resilience is also implied in the song’s title, a reminder that even in heartbreak, life goes on and holding the memory of someone stays with the rhythm of everyday living. it’s an anthem for anyone who has ever looked on witnessing decline, mixed sorrow with love.
In Kieran James’s “Part of the Grind,” we hear music as well as go behind it. He gives us room feel, to mourn, and to honor. In the process, he turns private pain into something achingly universal, a song for everyone who has either loved or lost.
