R. Kelly’s Accuser Dismisses His “Murder Plot” Claims As Nonsense

H

In the latest installment of the R. Kelly drama, one of his most vocal alleged victims isn’t buying the singer’s latest assertion that his life is in danger. Lisa VanAllen, who took the stand against Kelly at a couple of trials over the years, is crying foul over his new claims somebody in the Bureau of Prisons is “trying to kill” him. VanAllen, central to Kelly’s 2002 federal prosecution and again in his 2008 child porn case, didn’t beat around the bush when speaking to TMZ. “It’s nothing but a lot of horsecrap.

It’s always something,” she said dismissively, minimizing Kelly’s alleged overdose and allegations of a murder plot. “I don’t see why anyone would want to hurt him unless it’s other prisoners because they hate pedophiles.” The danger to Kelly, though, if any exists behind bars, comes from other inmates who see firsthand what many outside the prison walls have come to feel about him, she said. “The only people who are cool with pedophiles are other pedophiles,” she said, noting that she doesn’t view Kelly as influential enough to be a target of a hit. Kelly’s defense team, however, was not about to take VanAllen’s words sitting down.

VanAllen made the allegations that prosecution witnesses were coached during this testimony on Friday, and his attorney, Beau Brindley, shot back to say that VanAllen is a proven liar in a harshly worded rebuttal. “When I cross-examined Lisa Van Allen, she perjured herself in front of the jury,” Brindley added. “She even went as far as lying about her age to me when I asked her about when she was first spending time with R. Kelly. The government was forced to concede she had lied.” Brindley went even further, claiming her testimony was so “not credible” that it was a significant reason why Kelly and co-defendant Derrel McDavid were found not guilty of charges that she was connected to in some way.

“She’s not a victim of anything,” he said. The exchange underscored the ongoing tension around the embattled singer’s legal legacy and his efforts to sway public sympathy in his favor. But for VanAllen and other survivors who describe suffering at his hands, Kelly’s latest allegations are just further noise. As Kelly sits in jail, fighting for relevancy and muttering about conspiracy, VanAllen’s having none of it. Her point is that there are actual victims here, and he’s not one.

Snoop Dogg Wants To Pay Someone $10,000 A Month To Eat Ice Cream

Snoop Dogg has had a lot of job titles over the years, but “official ice cream taster” wasn’t one of them until now — and he’s hiring someone else to fill it. His company Dr. Bombay just opened applications for the role, and it pays $10,000 a month.

The gig is fully remote and open to anyone on the planet, which Snoop announced himself in a video that’s exactly as laid-back as you’d expect. “I love the paper, but not the paperwork,” he said, explaining that HR firm Deel is handling the logistics while he handles, presumably, the ice cream.

The actual job is less “sit around and eat pints all day” and more part-time cultural scout. Whoever gets it will track flavor and food trends around the world, report back on what people are eating and talking about, and work directly with Dr. Bombay’s in-house flavor lead to help shape what the brand does next. It’s a three-month contractor role, and Snoop’s team says they’re actively looking outside the usual resume pile — creators and non-traditional applicants welcome.

Dr. Bombay itself leans nostalgic, with flavors like Long Beach Fruit Cart, Sticky Caramel Apple Pie, and Peanut Butter Jelly Time already sitting on shelves at Walmart and moving through DoorDash and Instacart. Somewhere out there is one very lucky applicant about to get paid five figures a month to have opinions about ice cream, and honestly, good for them.
