Tyler The Creator Champions The Art Of Gatekeeping
In a refreshingly honest chat with The Cut, Tyler The Creator discussed something that often sparks debate gatekeeping. Rather than seeing it as a negative thing, Tyler actually embraces the idea, especially regarding his favorite brands, restaurants, and clothing lines. This perspective feels like a breath of fresh air in a world where everything is mass-produced and often shared too widely. Tyler openly shares that he “loves gatekeeping.” His main point was that not everything should be available to everyone, and that’s completely fine.
There’s something special about having a favorite spot or item that feels unique to you. He points out how social media, especially viral TikToks, can turn those hidden gems like a cozy local restaurant or a limited-release clothing item into popular trends that lose their special charm. “When someone makes a TikTok and now everything is sold out,” he notes, it ruins the experience for those who truly loved those places before they became trendy. What’s fascinating is how Tyler distinguishes between gatekeeping in music and in other areas like restaurants and lifestyle brands.
He thinks keeping music to yourself can be a bit odd, but he’s all for protecting the smaller, more personal experiences that bring joy. He envisions a world where you can treasure your favorite restaurant or brand without it becoming famous overnight. Tyler’s playful attitude, like joking when he refuses to share where he got a cool outfit, highlights the pride and personal connection that can come from keeping some things private.
In a culture that often values sharing everything, Tyler’s viewpoint encourages us to think differently about the beauty of exclusivity and personal enjoyment. It’s not about being snobby or excluding others but about preserving what makes certain experiences special. Sometimes, it’s perfectly okay to say, “This one’s just for me.” Tyler’s thoughts on gatekeeping remind us that not every experience needs to be popular or widely known, and perhaps that’s exactly what makes them so valuable.

Snoop Dogg Wants To Pay Someone $10,000 A Month To Eat Ice Cream
Snoop Dogg has had a lot of job titles over the years, but “official ice cream taster” wasn’t one of them until now — and he’s hiring someone else to fill it. His company Dr. Bombay just opened applications for the role, and it pays $10,000 a month.
The gig is fully remote and open to anyone on the planet, which Snoop announced himself in a video that’s exactly as laid-back as you’d expect. “I love the paper, but not the paperwork,” he said, explaining that HR firm Deel is handling the logistics while he handles, presumably, the ice cream.
The actual job is less “sit around and eat pints all day” and more part-time cultural scout. Whoever gets it will track flavor and food trends around the world, report back on what people are eating and talking about, and work directly with Dr. Bombay’s in-house flavor lead to help shape what the brand does next. It’s a three-month contractor role, and Snoop’s team says they’re actively looking outside the usual resume pile — creators and non-traditional applicants welcome.
Dr. Bombay itself leans nostalgic, with flavors like Long Beach Fruit Cart, Sticky Caramel Apple Pie, and Peanut Butter Jelly Time already sitting on shelves at Walmart and moving through DoorDash and Instacart. Somewhere out there is one very lucky applicant about to get paid five figures a month to have opinions about ice cream, and honestly, good for them.
