Chris Brown’s “Party” Producer Drags Sony To Court Over $1,247,500 Royalty.

Chris Brown

Sony is in hot water over Chris Brown’s hit single “Party.” Producer Ishmael Sadiq Montague, who goes by the name ISM, is suing the company, claiming he received only half of the royalties he was owed. The lawsuit seeks $1,247,500 in damages, as well as punitive damages and any unpaid royalties that have not yet been accounted for.

Filed October 16 in federal court in New York, the complaint centers on an alleged royalty deal tied to “Party,” which stars Chris Brown, Usher, and Gucci Mane. The song is the center of the dispute, but the claims are leveled at Sony, with Brown himself not accused of any wrongdoing in the information provided.

The suit claims ISM had a deal with Chris Brown Entertainment that entitled him to a 1.5% royalty on the song after he split from A1. But he says Sony calculated his payments at just 0.75%, leaving him with half the percentage he says he was contractually owed.

The producer says the discrepancy was discovered in a review of his records in July. He told Sony in August that his royalty payments didn’t match the agreement’s terms.

The dispute also involves how ISM’s royalty interests would be treated in a separate business arrangement. He was said to have struck a deal with xposure Music Holdings to sell those stakes in June. Under the arrangement, the complaint alleged that Sony would forward the applicable royalty payments to Xposure as of September 1.

The company says Sony didn’t follow through on the change in payees for six weeks, raising more questions about how the payments were handled and whether Sony followed the agreement’s terms.

Beyond the alleged underpayment, the lawsuit also questions some conditions Sony allegedly tried to impose. The company told him to sign a form saying the payee had no right to audit Sony, the ISM said. He calls the requirement a hard-and-fast rule but says that Sony already had a form on hand that lacked the disputed provision.

The suit also questions how Sony accounted for the producer’s share of “Party.” ISM says the company initially told him it had no record of his share, but later confirmed it had been accounting for the song. He also cites comments Sony made over the years that he says show a paper trail for the entire period in question.

These charges form the basis of ISM’s effort to recover what he believes he is owed. He is seeking $1,247,500 in damages, punitive damages, and any other funds that have not been accounted for.

For now, the lawsuit focuses on the “Party” royalty arrangements, including how payments are calculated, accounting records, and transfer of royalty interests. No information is available on Sony’s response to the allegations. Until the claims are resolved in the legal process, the accusations are allegations, not established findings of wrongdoing.

Travis Scott Adds Four Classic Cars To His Collection.

Travis Scott

Travis Scott, who’s said to have a taste for unique cars, reportedly bought four classic cars during a visit to the Volo Museum in Illinois, a smart move for the rapper. Among his reported purchases are a rare Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary and three classic American cars that offer a different perspective than the supercars he typically shares.

Scott reportedly flew in on a private jet before visiting the Volo Museum. The museum announced his visit on Tuesday, October 20, with a photo of the rapper, and said he toured the building before choosing four vehicles to buy. The museum later took the post down from its social media channels, but local reports have identified the cars he supposedly took home.

The four purchases include a 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary, a 1955 Chevrolet 150 Sedan Delivery, a 1957 Ford Fairlane and a 1954 Chevrolet 3100. The collection includes examples from different automotive eras, but of course it’sthe Lamborghini that’s the most unique addition.

The 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary is especially good. This special edition commemorates the model’s 25th anniversary and came toward the end of the Countach’s long production run. Its presence serves as a high-profile centerpiece among Scott’s reported purchases, setting it apart from the three American classics that complete the collection.

The other cars add a different character to the line-up. It’s an American car, which sets it apart from the modern supercars Scott often drives in public: the 1955 Chevrolet 150 Sedan Delivery, 1957 Ford Fairlane, and 1954 Chevrolet 3100.

The Lamborghini might be the headline-grabber, but it’s the three American classics that make this purchase so interesting. The collection spans decades and features a range of designs, without focusing on a specific type of car.

Fans of Scott’s car collection will have another talking point thanks to the reported shopping trip. A special-edition Lamborghini, plus three vehicles from the 1950s, makes for a diverse group of buys, with each car carrying its own place in automotive history.

For now, the reported acquisitions are the story’s central fact. The museum’s original announcement is no longer available, and individual purchase prices were not disclosed, so the full financial details are still unclear. The four reported purchases, however, offer an interesting glimpse into Scott’s latest automotive move.

Jimmy Fallon Blasted Jay-Z’s Reported Plans During His Opening Monologue On The Tonight Show.

Online buzz is already building around JAY-Z’s rumored move to headline next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, and Jimmy Fallon has added a few jokes of his own. The late-night host blasted the rapper’s reported plans during his opening monologue on The Tonight Show, drawing a mix of laughter and groans from the audience.

Talk of JAY-Z possibly playing the Super Bowl has remained a hot topic, especially after reports that he volunteered to perform in next year’s halftime show. The NFL hasn’t officially confirmed the move yet, but sources close to the situation tell ESPN it’s happening.

Fallon didn’t wait for official confirmation, taking to his platform to poke fun at the situation and turn the rapper’s alleged decision into fodder for his opening monologue. The crowd’s mixed reaction added another layer to the moment, suggesting viewers could react differently.

Fallon’s remarks also fueled the growing buzz around JAY-Z’s alleged plans. The Super Bowl Halftime Show is a major entertainment event that draws both music and sports audiences, so chatter about who will perform next can quickly become a talking point. This case has only added to the discussion, with the uncertainty surrounding the announced appointment.

Fallon joked during the monologue that JAY-Z probably had a quick conversation with himself before deciding. The punchline was a dig at the rapper for taking matters into his own hands instead of waiting for an official NFL announcement.

Fallon’s remarks also highlighted how the story moved from online discussion to late-night television. When a reported entertainment decision makes it into a comedy monologue, it can reach an audience that may not otherwise follow the details closely.

The NFL’s silence means it shouldn’t officially confirm JAY-Z’s alleged role just yet. Questions remain about whether the rapper will ultimately headline next year’s halftime show until the league makes its announcement.

For now, Fallon has injected his own brand of humor into the ongoing discussion, making JAY-Z’s alleged choice a topic on The Tonight Show. Whether the rapper’s plans actually unfold in the next few months, or the rumor mill turns in another direction, the story has already captured the attention of both hip-hop fans and late-night TV viewers.

The reported decision on the halftime show was still an evolving entertainment story, with the NFL still to weigh in officially. But with Fallon’s monologue putting the subject front-and-center.
