Leonie Persch’s “Code Blue” is an anthem of loss, love and renewal

Leonie Persch

Pop artist Leonie Persch is back with her second single, “Code Blue,” a bittersweet ballad that encapsulates the delicate threshold when something you’ve fought for ceases to draw breath. Its raw lyricism and emotive vocal delivery firmly establish Persch as a new voice in pop that you should be paying attention to.

“Code Blue” was initially written as a song about lost love, but it has become so much more. The track is about the regrettable truth of what it means to leave behind relationships, dreams, and even former selves that no longer suit you, even if it breaks you apart. It’s about what you have to sacrifice when you’re too big for something still worth fighting for.

That title, taken from the medical term for a state of emergency when life is in danger, becomes a potent metaphor. It’s where you have to end up, but if there were another way, perhaps through the back door or on a trapeze wire, Persch would have found it. This theme takes on even stronger overtones when considered in light of Persch’s journey. After finding success playing at the biggest EDM clubs in Berlin as Bonny Lauren and EVIE, she made a bold decision to leave her established career behind and relocate to Los Angeles.

On “Code Blue,” she reintroduces herself to the world not just as a writer and vocalist, but as the artist she has always aspired to be. Her voice, alternately strong and fragile, draws you into the emotional heart of the song. The production reflects that duality, fragile tunes carry the verses, then open into aching choruses that underscore the heartbreak of goodbye but suggest that dawn will follow.

“Code Blue” is more than a pop ballad. It is a tale of self-discovery, growth, and perseverance, a reminder that endings often give rise to new beginnings. For music lovers craving tracks that are intensely personal yet widely relatable, Leonie Persch is emerging as an artist to watch.

Paul Terry, Aptøsrs & Cellarscape unite on bold new album “Alternative Piano Club”

Combining his three artistic alter egos, Paul Terry presents an awe-inspiring new 12-track album, “Alternative Piano Club,” written in collaboration with Aptøsrs and Cellarscape. This is an album-length voyage of music that blends acoustic, rock, and piano-driven cinematic sounds.

Torn between this complex emotional spectrum, all the while the piano remains at its core throughout. Paul Terry opens his “Memento Mori (Chromogenic Phase)” contemplatively, creating a solemn, reflective mood. Cellarscape’s “Three Years Of Roses is warmer, whereas Aptøsrs’ “Questionnaires is much more textured as a large, sculptural post-rock.

“Dave’s Theme,” written by Paul Terry, musically expands the narrative with a touch of cinematic elevation that aligns well. “We Shape The Clouds” by Cellarscape is fluffy and heart-warming, “Writers Behind The Curtain” is somber, more narrative. We are all together in “A Place We Made,” an honest, intimate, emotionally grounded space.

The project contains vocal warmth and cultural depth in the song “This Is My Home by Silas Miami & Lana Crowster. Proceeding in a totally different direction is the stronger emotional clarity of Paul Terry’s acoustic storytelling on “Any Time You Want To Fly” and “No Sleep Has Come.” Cellarscape presents a wide, spacious atmospheric moment in “Cygnus,” while Aptøsrs ends with “Rust Mountain (Monochrome Piano Version),” a simple gem that brings the project full circle.

The mixing of Sam Okell and Adam Noble, the mastering of Alex Wharton and Robin Schmidt have, in many ways, brought their polish to it while still making it feel human. “Alternative Piano Club” is a work entity, where three musical personalities met and talk mind in the same emotional language.
