Newcastle Prog-Rockers, Crux, release their spectacular, thought-provoking debut EP: “Death At The Cash Machine”

Having teased the release of the EP “Death At The Cash Machine” by sharing three singles periodically, the Newcastle prog-rock quartet Crux has managed to attract radio support from the likes of Tom Robinson at BBC Radio 6 Music and Amazing Radio, whilst also receiving written praise from the likes of Hype Machine tastemakers EarToTheGround and XS Noize.

Speaking about the EP – its creation, themes, and messages – Crux reveal: “We’ve really pulled out all of the stops for this EP, worked with some great studios and producers in both London and the North East to bring out the best in our unique songwriting, and put a lot of time into the accompanying music videos.

In ‘Death at the Cash Machine’ song by song, we’ve tried to capture different aspects of the chaos and despair that penetrates modern living drawing on a number of themes, from zero-hour contracts and austerity to sexual predators and dodgy nights out. Some of the songs are particularly character-driven, with ‘Radgie Gadgie’ and ‘Incel’ both being based on real people, but also on archetypes we’re all familiar with in our day-to-day lives.

Writing, practicing, and recording during the pandemic has not been without its challenges, however, that makes us even prouder of what we’ve been able to produce; knowing that, unfortunately, many bands haven’t remained intact during this period.”

“Fade Into You” by Jamie Alimorad shares a shimmering dare to nostalgic heartbeats

Jamie Alimorad

From the spontaneous dare of his inaugural release in 2025, Jamie Alimorad skillfully orchestrates his latest sonic adventure, “Fade Into You.” This track sweeps listeners into a distinctly uplifting auditory experience, featuring intricate rhythmic guitar work at the core that demonstrates Alimorad’s hallmark melodic craftsmanship. His nuanced delivery, imbued with an authentic conviction, poignantly captures the overwhelming addition to a touch of love and the vivid sensations it evokes. The palpable intimacy conveyed through his vocals glides effortlessly over a dynamically layered beat, creating an emotional resonance that elevates this piece beyond a mere club anthem, transforming it into a heartfelt confession whispered directly to the listener.

Conceived during a frantic six-hour session in a recording studio in Van Nuys, CA, the song emerged partly as a dare necessitated by an urgent escape from a sudden chaotic home flood. The track exuded a sense of organic urgency as Alimorad collaborated with producer Jordan Sherman. You can almost hear the sounds and humming as they layer guitars and drum machines in a burst of creativity. This sense of spontaneous process gives “Fade Into You” its raw edge, contrasting intriguingly with the polished sheen of modern EDM.

Lyrically, Alimorad leans into vulnerability, the kind that comes from confronting uncertainties in the glow of a neon-lit speaker. Lines like “Now I feel I’m addicted to your touch; your love… I lost control…” soar above the swelling crescendos, bridging the sincerity of the singer-songwriter with the kinetic rush of dance music. This synthesis represents a masterstroke that melds the storytelling heart of pop/rock with the euphoric release of modern electronic music.

After several years dedicated to mainstream pop production, this song marks Alimorad’s readiness to embrace unpredictability. It firmly establishes itself within familiar musical domains while integrating novel elements: shimmering synth hooks, analog warmth, and soaring choruses designed to resonate beyond the club. The track pays tribute to nostalgic influences that remain intentional and forward-looking, nodding to the past without succumbing to retro sentimentality.

Ultimately, “Fade Into You” exemplifies how artistic ingenuity can thrive amidst chaotic circumstances. With its infectious melody, climactic arrangement, and profoundly human core, Jamie Alimorad has crafted a familiar and innovative track. It invites listeners to immerse themselves in the experience and uncover something memorable within its intricate sonic landscape.
