Peter Rosenberg Calls Out Ye Over Donda West Way Street Ceremony

Peter Rosenberg is taking to Twitter to criticize Kanye West’s presence at the event honoring his late mother, Donda West, after Chicago’s East 78th Street was renamed “Dr. Donda West Way.” The ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 22, with Ye in attendance and personally pulling the cover off the newly unveiled street sign. While the moment honored Donda West and her work in Chicago as an educator, Rosenberg reacted very differently during Thursday’s episode of The Ebro, Laura, Rosenberg Show.

It was captured on Twitter how Rosenberg called the situation effing weird after an off camera producer defended Ye’s presence, noting it was his mother who was being honored. Rosenberg called it a booking issue, while cohosts Laura Stylez and Ebro Darden seemed more forgiving of the rapper’s involvement.

Ebro also said the moment reflected what he saw as a pattern of interruptions. Rosenberg, though, made it clear he felt Donda West deserved the honor. The conversation then shifted to Rosenberg’s broader history of Ye’s criticism. That criticism had recently included remarks targeting those who, in Rosenberg’s view, were too quick to forgive Kanye West’s controversies and bigotries while celebrating his successful shows.

Ebro disagreed with Rosenberg’s point, saying Rosenberg would want to be involved if it were his own mom getting a street named after her. The exchange seemed to ease up as both hosts chuckled at the thought, while Rosenberg also raised Ye’s age as another point of attack.
