The GrandMillennial Gift Guide
How to shop for the GrandMillennial this holiday season— celebrate your favorite friend, co-worker, or cousin whose vibe is definitively more aligned with Parish-Hadley than Axel Vervoodt….
A little over a year ago, when House Beautiful published their Guide to Being A GrandMillennial, no one could have anticipated that the set of 20- and 30-somethings whom they identified as unironically embracing all varieties of granny design trends would soon be trapped in their homes, working remotely. Zooming away on their chintz-covered English roll arm and sipping their coffee from their favorite Burleigh floral mug instead of at the office in their Herman Miller desk chair with a latte from Pret-a-Manger, it allowed their love of all things toile and embroidered to flourish. I should know—I am a proud GrandMillennial (GM going forward in this article!), 35 goin on 85, and have relished spending time among the comforts of my granny decor. So this holiday season, celebrate your favorite friend, co-worker, or cousin whose vibe is definitively more aligned with Parish-Hadley than Axel Vervoodt.
A mini-pillow from Sister Parish, patron saint of GMs:
It’s dark at 4pm, so give the seasonally affected GM a nicely potted paper geranium:
For your Victorian co-worker who’s always cold:
The cheeriest florals for dining at home:
A hand-painted carafe for your perpetually thirsty colleague:
A beautiful block print for the ever-monogramming friend:
What GM doesn’t love a scallop or a liberty print?
For the Country Colonial-leaning GM:
A ruffle, a rib, and the color ‘Vieux Rose:’ what more do you need?
Everyone is glamming up their home office, why not help that effort?
For water, wine, or a nosegay of Mimosa:
Dress up your winter orchid:
Cameo and pearls for the Zoom-averse Victoriana:
Because the best GMs only dine by candlelight:
A toile de jouy face mask— just the balm for uncertain times:
As long as outdoor dining is de rigueur, why not make your melamine plates a French faience pattern?
The dream GM uniform consists of lace, cable knit and jeweled buttons:
“Victorian Ghost Bundle” the name says it all…
To keep your winter look appropriately dowdy:
Any good GM disdains a Kindle:
I dare you to find a good GM who doesn’t love rattan and wicker:
Because no GM should have holes in her cardigans or quilts:
