The Meir finds freedom on the other side of control with latest release “Free”
The Meir‘s latest release, “Free,” starts off with ambient guitars, cinematic textures and an emotionally charged vocal performance to set the mood. “Free” is somewhere in the middle between today’s alternative rock and indie pop. It’s a release that doesn’t let go of the weight of what’s come before.
The lyrics emphasize the tension, “You lived like a king with all your greatness and now we let you go cause we know it was just a show.” The line is disappointed, but there is also a definite decision to stop hanging on. It makes the idea of freedom more personal with “Now you’re free as a man can be,” and “You are gone but not lost to me” gives room for love even after parting.
“Free” is a song about releasing someone without pretending the relationship didn’t matter. The Meir is a song of perfect harmony, of atmosphere and emotional honesty, guitars and cinematic textures, vocals and a rising chorus all working toward the same feeling, that of release.

BuYufu turns the symptoms of love into a soul-filled dance with “Side Effects May Include”
In “Side Effects May Include,” BuYufu has made the irrational symptoms of hopelessly falling in love playful and highly musical. Love’s a hell of a drug, and it has some weird side effects. Missed calls, dancing on the spot, and acting completely out of character. It’s a simple idea, but the track really brings it to life.
It’s written as a song for a 70s soul club performance, influenced by crossover soul, northern soul, Afro-Cuban soul, and Latin soul. Horns, strings, shuffle guitar, Latin percussion, Hammond organ, and an active drum break surround the song’s central feeling. The arrangement keeps the song feeling lively, but the vintage influence is very clear.
“Side Effects May Include,” has subtle callbacks for those who have been following the project. This connection gives the song a sense of finality. It’s warm, raw, and deliberately human in its subject matter, capturing the odd thrill of love while showing how an old-school soul feeling can still speak naturally to the present.
