Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
Ace Mirrorman – Well, I’ve always been a student of life. Both my parents were deep into music, specifically jazz and soul. I used to lay on the floor and listen to Michael Jackson in between two huge speakers just to feel the music. I’ve always wanted to feel the music.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started this career?
Ace Mirrorman – of everything I’d have to say just this sense of divine timing. I didn’t know what to do or how to get it all done. But it seemed like whatever I said I was going to do, the opportunities would just land in my lap. Kind of like I was being called.
Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?
Ace Mirrorman – Rushing! I can honestly say now that I’ve been doing this for a while. I laugh at people who think it’s a one-man show. Especially when working with others. Patience is always key. Know that it’s never really about you. The bigger the project the more patient you have to be. It’s all about patience.
What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?
Ace Mirrorman – Every project is interesting and exciting. I think it’s about watching a project turn into something bigger. I love involving more people to elevate a project. Watching an idea go from thought to something physical and take hold of others is amazing. Overall I love doing BTS content. Watching the creation of something that has many moving parts is awesome.
Who are some of the most interesting people you have interacted with? What was that like? Do you have any stories?
Ace Mirrorman – Always other artists. Too many to name without leaving people out. It’s always a ball when you have so many different types of creators in one space. If I have to name one I’d say James Azure is a very interesting young man. Very talented also. He’s in my upcoming music video for “Eatin” He was saying some pretty colorful things while the video vixen was on the table getting syrup poured on her. Just wait for the BTS. LOL
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Ace Mirrorman – Don’t treat this like a job because it’s not. It’s an actual lifestyle that you have to create. As long as you don’t compare your process to someone else’s process things should go well. Some days will be better than others. Just roll with it and create your own flow.
You have been blessed with success in a career path that can be challenging. Do you have any words of advice for others who may want to embark on this career path, but seem daunted by the prospect of failure?
Ace Mirrorman – Failure is the road to success. Many of my successes were perceived as failures to me at first glance. I’m so happy for all my failures because they ultimately lead me to what others perceive as success. They go hand and hand. So don’t even worry about it. Just get to work.
Can you share with our readers any self-care routines, practices, or treatments that you do to help your body, mind, or heart to thrive? Kindly share a story or an example for each.
Ace Mirrorman – Always get your rest. When it comes to mental health you can’t slack. I meditate a lot just to get out of my mind about what’s happening or not happening. Believe me, it can get crazy with delays and setbacks, but keep your eye on the goal. Don’t let the valleys take you away from the peaks. There have been many setbacks in my career, but I never lose sight of the goal and what got me here. Everything starts with a thought. Even your doubts. put less energy into one for the other.
What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why? Please share a story or example for each.
Ace Mirrorman –
- Don’t write about what’s outside of you, write what’s on the inside.
- Get great sleep.
- The money will come, don’t chase it.
- Be careful what you put in your body and mind.
- The universe loves you, so love yourself.
These five things I had to learn through many trials. It all goes back to having a healthy outlook on your life. Because you have to bring yourself to every opportunity. If you’re not good, then the opportunity will ultimately be no good. People want to know who you truly are. Not what you’ve been turned into dew to the world.
Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?
Ace Mirrorman – It’s best to heal before you show the world your scabs. I’ve had so many great opportunities in my life that I wasn’t in the right place in my mind to really take full advantage of. For me writing and performing music is easy. It’s the real-life stuff that I had a hard time with. Sometimes I’ve given the wrong message because of pain that I didn’t take care of. Mental health is more important than most artists even know. Today I can honestly say I feel mentally sound because I’ve taken the time to heal and get right with myself.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?
Ace Mirrorman – Yes my guy Jeremiah GvG! I would not be in my position if it wasn’t for him making me leave the fear behind. I remember it like it was yesterday when I got the phone call from him. He saw who I was and hooked me up with the right circle of people. My life has changed ever since that day. In this industry, it’s definitely about who you know.
You are a person of enormous influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂
Ace Mirrorman – I’d like people to know their true power. We are all influencers to someone. There is great power in that. We are so powerful and have no idea how to harness that power. Investing in self is the only way to really unlock that power of awareness.
We are very blessed that some of the biggest names in Business, VC funding, Sports, and Entertainment read this column. Is there a person in the world, or in the US with whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch, and why? He or she might see this. 🙂
Ace Mirrorman – I would love to have lunch with Eminem. He’s been a huge part of my passion for music. Being from the same city and never crossing paths lets me know that he’s about his craft. I’d love to have a catalog of that size. I know picking his brain would be of outstanding value to me.

Kalpee Honors Heritage and Heart on His Emotion-Rich New EP Dougla Boi
Kalpee is back with Dougla Boi, a beautiful new EP that is both personal and powerful. It gives listeners a close look at the layers of identity, heritage, and emotion that make him who he is. The Trinidad and Tobago artist is confident in his own space, which is rooted in New Calypso and polished with hints of dancehall, R&B, and afrobeats. In this space, genre bends, but emotion leads.
Named after the Trinidadian word for someone of mixed African and Indian heritage, Dougla Boi is honest, proud, and warm about the complexities of culture. Kalpee opens a window into the dualities that define him across six tracks, turning personal truth into universal resonance. The EP is just under 19 minutes long, but every second is carefully planned to take listeners on a journey through courage, joy, healing, and the quiet strength that comes from accepting all parts of yourself.
The first single, “Under,” stands out right away for its calming yet emotionally charged experience. Kalpee’s voice flows over a beat that sounds both new and old, fitting the EP’s theme of bringing cultures together. It’s one of the best examples of how he can mix soft and hard sounds, which is what makes his New Calypso sound so unique.
“Everybody,” which features Full Blown, is another excellent song that has already done very well. It has a happy vibe and an infectious bounce, making it one of the EP’s most replayable songs. “Everybody” captures the spirit of community and shared experience, which is what Kalpee means when he says that identity is not a box but a rhythm.
