Hello there, welcome to Honk Magazine. Can you tell our readers about what really inspired you to write music?

Yvng Sammie – What really inspired me to write music was the life experiences I had growing up. I feel like everyone has a story and this was the best way to express my emotions and people can definitely relate to my sounds. If you have an ear for music you’ll know what I’m telling you lyrically.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Yvng Sammie – I realized I was going to make music professionally when the music/artists I would dance to, some videos would be copyrighted; so when I go and film these videos and get ready to post, it would get taken down shortly after. I immediately told myself I can’t be creating all this sauce for nothing. So I started making what I would like to hear and what I believe my supporters from dancing would want to hear.

Tell us what is so unique about you and your music?

Yvng Sammie – What’s unique about me and my music is that I’m all self-taught and I’m also a dancer. I never took dance classes or music classes. I’m very dedicated to what I believe and I can do. Manifestation also goes very far.

Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

Yvng Sammie – I think the funniest mistake that happened while I was creating was recording myself in the studio for content and my engineer was so gone off shrooms he looked at me, paused the music and said my bad then played it again.

Can you tell us about your latest releases and what inspired you to create them?

Yvng Sammie – My latest single “Lips Tattoo” is about an individual I thought I’d marry frfr but now I’m focused on the bag. I’m a star player so I can’t be mixing with the benchwarmers.

Can you give us a brief insight about your upcoming projects?

Yvng Sammie – My first album “CAIRO” drops on my birthday this year, August 24th. this album has a lot of truth, pain, good times and bad times dedicated to this project. I believe this project is better than my EP but I’ll let the fans decide.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

Yvng Sammie – Once you release your first single, don’t dwell on the numbers. Keep releasing and people will eventually have to tap in to what you’re on to. Consistency is key.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Yvng Sammie – The best thing you can do in this game is be real. If you’re in it for the clout, open doors and opportunities. You’ve already failed.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

Yvng Sammie – When I don’t do music I’m always dancing, the ladies love that.

Any last piece of advice for those artists who just started making music?

Yvng Sammie – I believe your first 10 records should be singles, no features unless it’s your bae then that’s different, but if you want people to know you; they have to keep seeing your name.
