Coco Jones Shines at Spotify’s Best New Artist Bash, But Fans Can’t Stop Roasting Her Bold Moschino Look

In the dazzling prelude to this weekend’s Grammy Awards, Spotify threw a star-studded soiree celebrating the musical game-changers of the past year. The venue was buzzing with excitement as nominees, except UK garage DJ Fred Again, flocked to the event. The evening featured powerhouse performances, showcasing the breakthrough hits of the Best New Artist Nominees. Ice Spice had the crowd grooving to “Think U The Sh*t,” while country sensation Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson delivered a mesmerizing duet of “Save Me.” Victoria Monet and Noah Kahan also graced the stage, captivating the audience with their breakthrough tunes.

Adding to the star-studded affair was Coco Jones, whose track “ICU” garnered an impressive 41 million Spotify streams last year. The song, which spent 20 weeks on the Hot 100 and peaked at number 62, solidified her presence on the music scene. However, the spotlight shifted to Jones’ choice of attire—a daring ensemble featuring a black lace top paired with a quilt-patterned skirt straight from Moschino’s Spring-Summer 2024 runway. While some recognized the high-fashion origin, many fans had a bone to pick with the outfit.

“Not during Black History Month?????” exclaimed one top reply, while another bluntly suggested, “Fire the stylist.” Even those in the know about the Moschino connection weren’t entirely impressed, with one comment noting, “I know it’s Moschino, but it gives ‘Everything from IG.’”

Following the triumph of “ICU,” Coco Jones collaborated with none other than Justin Timberlake for a remix. The duo dropped a revamped version of the track, marking a noteworthy moment before Timberlake’s own comeback era earlier this year. Drake’s OVO Sale Hits Fresh Legal Dispute As Investor Claims Millions Owed

Drake

Drake’s OVO is facing another legal battle after investment firm Applied Real Intelligence (A.R.I.) alleged the lifestyle brand owes it millions of dollars and has not received any proceeds from OVO’s recent sale.

Applied Real Intelligence, or A.R.I., says OVO is still liable for debt it owes the investment firm under financing agreements. A.R.I. said the dispute over the unpaid money had already reached Canadian courts by the time OVO closed its blockbuster deal in August.

The investor now says it was left out of the proceeds from the deal between Authentic Brands Group and Vince Holding Corp., which finalized their acquisition of the Drake-founded lifestyle company. A.R.I. claims it received nothing from the transaction, even as it continues to dispute OVO and its claims of millions of dollars.

The fight shines a new spotlight on the financial obligations A.R.I. says the investment firm still owes OVO. The lender said it spent months chasing the company for money it says it still owes under the financing agreements.

The situation is a huge legal and financial problem for OVO, especially since the investor’s claims were not fresh when the sale took place. A.R.I. said its efforts to recover the alleged outstanding millions had been ongoing for months and that it brought the dispute to the Canadian court system before the deal involving Authentic Brands Group and Vince Holding Corp. was finalized.

In August, the deal closed for OVO, marking a major development for the company. But A.R.I.’s claims have also resulted in a separate financial dispute over the deal and the money the investment firm says it was owed.

For now, the debate is whether A.R.I. still owes millions to OVO and whether the investor received any money from the sale. The legal battle over the alleged unpaid financing obligations adds a new chapter to OVO’s story after the deal with Authentic Brands Group and Vince Holding Corp was already in Canadian courts.

The Jonas Brothers Just Played Halftime At The NFL’s First-Ever Game In Australia

The NFL played its first-ever regular season game on Australian soil Friday, and the league handed the halftime slot to a band that knows a thing or two about stadium-sized nostalgia: the Jonas Brothers. At the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers on the field, the trio ran through a medley built for a crowd that grew up on them — “Burnin’ Up,” “Sucker,” “Year 3000,” and their new one, “Listen When Sad.”

They also did something no one was expecting: a cover of John Farnham’s “You’re the Voice,” the 1986 Australian anthem that’s basically a second national song at this point. It’s the kind of move that plays a lot better live in Melbourne than it would’ve on paper. “Playing at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of such passionate Australian fans is an incredible honor,” the group said in a statement ahead of the show. “We can’t wait to be part of this historic moment and celebrate with everyone in the stadium and watching around the world.”

The game itself wasn’t close — the 49ers took it 27-7 — but the real story was everything happening around the field. Cody Simpson opened the day singing “Advance Australia Fair,” and the whole event doubled as a launchpad for the Jonas Brothers’ next act: “The Burning Up Tour All Over Again,” kicking off Sept. 25 and running through Dec. 22, a nod to the original Burnin’ Up Tour from nearly two decades back.

That throwback framing isn’t just marketing. “Listen When Sad,” which the band debuted live at Madison Square Garden before Melbourne, pulls from a very specific corner of their teenage years. “We’ve tapped back into a sound that was kind of the sound of the early 2000s,” Nick told the MSG crowd. “Bands like Switchfoot, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional.” They’ve even re-teamed with the producer behind “A Little Bit Longer” and “Lines, Vines and Trying Times” to get it right. No album’s been announced yet, but between the halftime show and the tour, it’s clear they’re not easing into this one quietly.
