Is The Weeknd’s Super Bowl Performance The Reason For His Grammy Snubs?
Getty Image According to a report from TMZ, the singer’s choice to perform at the Super Bowl and The Grammys may have cost him nominations. …
One of the biggest disappointments in the 2021 Grammy Award nominations comes from The Weeknd’s lack of nominations in any category. The snub left fans shocked and disappointed at the Recording Academy’s voting process and the fan’s detailed their frustration to the point that the Academy’s interim president/CEO Harvey Mason Jr. responded to the nominations snubs. “The Grammys have shifted in terms of what they value,” he said. “Now they seem to value championing newer and less well-known artists over reinforcing things that have already been rewarded in the marketplace.” However, there seems to be more to the story.
The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…
— The Weeknd (@theweeknd) November 25, 2020
On Tuesday night, The Weeknd set out a tweet that said, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency.” His tweet comes after a report from TMZ revealed that the snub may have actually happened because the singer would not perform at the award show over the Super Bowl. The Grammys allegedly left the singer with an ultimatum: perform at the award show or the Super Bowl, but not both. The two parties were eventually able to come to a conclusion, but not after a heated discussion between the singer and the award show. TMZ then says that after the award show reluctantly agreed to let him perform at both shows, they decided to snub the singer in all categories in retaliation for the heated negotiations.
The allegations against the Grammys have not been confirmed and the award show has yet to comment on the matter as well. It should also be noted that back in 2004, Justin Timberlake went home with a Best Pop Vocal Album award (Justified) after performing at that year’s Super Bowl and Grammy Award show.
We will update with more information if the Grammys responds to these allegations.

Cate Von Csoke stirs a cinematic lament for life’s turbulence with her new single “Stormy Weather”
“Stormy Weather” by Cate Von Csoke is an otherworldly invitation to lose yourself in a haze of haunting melodic sophistication and hypnotic vocals. Co-produced by Brian MacFadyen, the composition effectively evokes a sober mood that feels like an intimate journey through the shadows of heartbreak, wrapped in the cinematic grandeur of Von Csoke’s signature desert-folk sound. It is a brief respite from life’s chaos that encourages introspection and renewal.
Written during the isolation of lockdown and amid personal upheaval, the song is an evocative masterpiece, blending Cate’s introspective lyricism with an atmospheric, almost Lynchian backdrop. It’s the song that feels like a soundtrack for a slow-motion escape where the rain might be pounding outside, but inside, the storm is within. Cate’s sultry, dark vocals carry the weight of every longing, every unresolved emotion, drawing listeners into a place that is equal parts dream and reality.
What sets “Stormy Weather” apart is its ability to offer solace through its melancholic beauty. There’s an undeniable catharsis in its cinematic swells and quiet pauses, creating a space for listeners to process their storms. In just 3:56 minutes, “Stormy Weather” doesn’t just play; the intricate instrumentation envelops listeners in a manner reminiscent of a storm cloud, becoming a refuge, a shelter from the emotional torrents we all endure.
For fans of David Lynch’s surreal and achingly human storytelling or those seeking healing through sound, “Stormy Weather” delivers a raw, vulnerable escape. The Brooklyn-based desert-folk artist again demonstrates that music can be a sanctuary, even in the stormiest times, making the storm feel less isolating and infinitely more poetic. It is a much-needed addition to the playlist of enthusiasts.
