The film, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, is written by Natalie Chadiez and Kwynn Perry and will chronicle the trailblazing and traumatic story of one of music’s most revolutionary figures. Sister Rosetta Tharpe, known as the godmother of rock ‘n’ roll, made her mark on music history in concrete ways.

She was known for her searing guitar work and gospel-fortified sound, and she tore away from the conventions of the day to create a genre that would inspire legends like Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry.
