NBC Seeks To Quash Diddy’s $100M Defamation Lawsuit Over Explosive Doc

NBC Seeks To Quash Diddy’s $100M Defamation Lawsuit Over Explosive Doc

NBC is taking a firm stand in court against hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, following his jaw-dropping $100 million defamation lawsuit over Diddy, The Making of a Bad Boy. Filed earlier this year, the lawsuit accused the network, along with Peacock TV and Ample Entertainment, of painting Diddy in a dangerously false light, implicating him in some of the darkest moments in his personal and professional life. In a newly filed motion to dismiss, NBC and its partners argue that the documentary doesn’t defame Diddy at all.

According to the media powerhouse, the project merely explores already-public controversies and doesn’t introduce any new, damaging claims. Their stance is that any dents in Diddy’s public image didn’t come from this film, they were already there. The documentary features interviews with industry figures like Al B. Sure and Rodney Jones, diving into sensitive topics such as the deaths of Kim Porter and The Notorious B.I.G. Diddy’s legal team claims these segments recklessly fan the flames of long-circulating, unproven rumors, unfairly suggesting his possible involvement.

In his February filing, Diddy accused the production of being “false, reckless, and malicious,” stating that it amounted to character assassination. But NBC sees it differently. The company is standing behind its journalistic and creative choices, suggesting that the documentary remains within the bounds of legal commentary and public interest. Their motion to dismiss essentially argues that Diddy’s lawsuit is an overreach, contending that uncomfortable questions don’t equate to defamation.

This legal face-off highlights a larger cultural conversation: where does the line fall between public accountability and defamation? And how much storytelling power do media outlets have when it comes to public figures with long, complicated histories? For now, all eyes are on the court. If NBC’s motion to dismiss is granted, it could signal a major win for media entities tackling controversial topics. However, if Diddy’s lawsuit proceeds, it may shape how networks approach sensitive storytelling in the future.

Snoop Dogg Wants To Pay Someone $10,000 A Month To Eat Ice Cream

Snoop Dogg has had a lot of job titles over the years, but “official ice cream taster” wasn’t one of them until now — and he’s hiring someone else to fill it. His company Dr. Bombay just opened applications for the role, and it pays $10,000 a month.

The gig is fully remote and open to anyone on the planet, which Snoop announced himself in a video that’s exactly as laid-back as you’d expect. “I love the paper, but not the paperwork,” he said, explaining that HR firm Deel is handling the logistics while he handles, presumably, the ice cream.

The actual job is less “sit around and eat pints all day” and more part-time cultural scout. Whoever gets it will track flavor and food trends around the world, report back on what people are eating and talking about, and work directly with Dr. Bombay’s in-house flavor lead to help shape what the brand does next. It’s a three-month contractor role, and Snoop’s team says they’re actively looking outside the usual resume pile — creators and non-traditional applicants welcome.

Dr. Bombay itself leans nostalgic, with flavors like Long Beach Fruit Cart, Sticky Caramel Apple Pie, and Peanut Butter Jelly Time already sitting on shelves at Walmart and moving through DoorDash and Instacart. Somewhere out there is one very lucky applicant about to get paid five figures a month to have opinions about ice cream, and honestly, good for them.
