SKG ATTEND THE POWER OF LOVE GALA
Los Angeles, CA – Hip Hop Artist SKG, also known as Helecia Choyce, made a memorable appearance at the Power of Love Gala Hosted by Larry Wilmore and Honoring Legendary Sports Agent and WME Head of Basketball Bill Duffy and Basketball Great Spencer Haywood.
Having graced the music industry from a young age, Rapper SKG hails from Los Angeles, California. SKG entered the music industry at thirteen years old and was discovered by Suge Knight , signing a major deal with Death Row Records. Her track “Let em Have it” on Tupac Shakur’s “Until The End of Time” went to #4 on the charts, earning her a Platinum Plaque. In 2004, she left Death Row Records and now she prides herself as a independent artist working both in front of and behind the scenes.
However, it was her attendance at the Power of Love Gala that truly opened her eyes to the importance of The Ryan Gordy Foundation and why bringing awareness to causes like this is important.
Reflecting on her experience, SKG stated, “This was my first time attending this type of event, and I’m happy that I got a chance to meet some really great people and hear beautiful stories about the organization”.
The Ryan Gordy Foundation hosted its 2023 The Power of Love Gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel on September 28th, 2023. The foundation is committed to improving the lives of underserved young adults impacted by cancer through a holistic approach to wellness. The annual gala fundraiser financially empowers the Ryan Gordy Foundation to continue to deliver year-round support to those who are facing the fight of their lives.
The glamorous and inspiring event was attended by Trailblazer award honoree WME’s Head of Basketball Bill Duffy; basketball great and honoree Spencer Haywood; Haywood’s daughter, influencer Isis Chanel, who also made her musical debut at the event; comedian Larry Wilmore who served as host; famed attorney Robert Shapiro; Marvin Gaye III; actress Zurich Villanueva, and film producer Vassal Benford.

Laf0822 speaks for the underrated in new single “Delusional”
Laf0822’s new single, “Delusional,” is full of confidence that isn’t afraid to show it. Laf0822 starts with a clear goal, to let everyone know that this song is for people who have been working hard while others pretend not to see it. “Delusional” is about making real progress while dealing with people who act like it doesn’t happen, so instead of letting the bad things win, Laf0822 changes the story.
Laf0822’s delivery has a confident, street-smart edge that makes the song feel real and grounded, as if it were based on real life. This kind of energy is something that people who have faced doubt, criticism, or even hate while trying to move forward can relate to. “Delusional” reminds people that progress isn’t always easy to see, and that the loudest critics are often the ones who don’t see the work being done.
The message is clear and strong, don’t let the people who don’t believe in you stop you, keep working hard and building. Laf0822 expresses that way of thinking in a way that feels both personal and universal. This makes “Delusional” easy to understand for anyone who has ever felt like they weren’t being taken seriously.

Kay Onishi says goodbye to the lurkers in “Bye Bye Felicia”
Kay Onishi goes into unapologetic territory with the release of her latest single, “Bye Bye Felicia.” This hip-hop song with a sharp edge shines a light on the people who watch things unfold online without saying a word. The song has a strong beat and a fearless attitude. It’s a confident goodbye to the people who watch from the sidelines and keep track of everything without ever letting anyone know they’re there.
“Bye Bye Felicia” is great because it has a strong, no-nonsense energy. Kay Onishi uses the well-known phrase to dismiss it, turning it into a musical declaration of independence from the constant gaze of online viewers. “Bye Bye Felicia” is great because it turns anger into strength.
The song doesn’t sound defensive, it sounds calm and in control, as if the artist has already moved on while the people watching are still checking their feeds. “Bye Bye Felicia” by Kay Onishi is both timely and sure of itself. It reminds me that sometimes the best thing to do is not to respond to the noise. Instead, say goodbye and walk away with your head held high.
