Wizkid And Burna Boy Reunite In The Flirtatious ‘Ginger’ Video

The two Nigerian superstars reunite for the first time since 2013 on the ‘Made In Lagos’ standout. …

Nigerian pop stars Wizkid and Burna Boy’s last official collaboration was in 2013 on Burna Boy’s L.I.F.E album cut “Jahs Love Is True.” Since then, though, both have become international superstars, been nominated for Grammys, and released well-received albums here in the US, propagating their Afro-fusion style beyond their home country. Now, they’ve reunited on Wizkid’s new album, Made In Lagos, and today, they released the video for their collab, “Ginger.”

The video is relatively straightforward, featuring the two artists performing in a massive studio as models dance and pose in front of the camera. They also share a game of Oware — otherwise known as mancala — atop a classic automobile.

Both stars have seen their profiles rise in the US over the past few years, largely as a result of their collaborations with stars here who’ve been tapped into their sound. Wizkid worked with Drake on “One Dance” in 2016, with Wale on his Shine album in 2017, and with GoldLink on Diaspora in 2019. Meanwhile, Burna’s path was less conventional; a coincidental song title mixup in 2018 led to an explosion of popularity, giving him a platform from which to launch his albums African Giant and Twice As Tall.

Burna Boy is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

HonkMagazine

Remy Ma is not one to shy away from what’s on her mind, and her recent performance was a testament to that. The Bronx rap legend joined forces with Trey Songz and Connie Diiamond for a high-energy performance of their “Ghetto & Ratchet (Remix)” on Thursday night. But it wasn’t only the high-energy delivery that was making mouths move in the crowd, it was one specific lyric that has the internet buzzing. Remy Ma says in the OG song, “Fk wantin’ ya na, I take him.” * But she added a little more bite to her latest performance, audaciously changing it up to, “If I want ya n**a, I’ll take him.” *

The energy instantly shifted in the room as soon as those words slipped from her lips, and fans were left wondering. Rumors and speculation about infidelity have surrounded it for months as the couple’s relationship came under public scrutiny. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, the tension has been impossible to miss. And now, with this lyric change, plenty of fans are convinced Remy Ma is doing just that. The reactions poured in on social media. Some fans were quick to read between the lines, interpreting the lyric as an obvious shot.

“Y’all know that was the line in that song right 👀,” wrote one user, while others directly questioned the intention of the performance. On the contrary, there are also some who couldn’t help but root her on, praising the confidence and fearlessness that Remy Ma displayed on stage. However, the biggest takeaway, perhaps, is that Remy Ma is still committed to her brash persona. Be it back through barb-laden lyrics or just the commanding way she runs a crowd, she knows how to seize a moment. Remy Ma ain’t losing her status as one of hip-hop’s wildest mouths.

Trina’s Husband, Benjamin “Swurv” Kearse, Arrested for Battery Following 2023 Altercation

HonkMagazine

It appears storm clouds may be brewing in Trina’s personal life. It has been reported today that her man, Benjamin “Swurv” Kearse, has been arrested for battery following an incident nearly two years ago in Miami. Though Trina is widely lauded as a pioneer in hip-hop, this unfortunate circumstance casts a light on some struggles in her family life. A police report obtained by TMZ Hip Hop states the incident happened in July 2023 and started off as a seemingly harmless disagreement. It was a pedestrian “in a crosswalk at stop sign.”

Tensions flared when the man hit the trunk of Kearse’s car as Kearse got to the crosswalk in his black Dodge Charger, the report says. What happened next for his was even more troubling. Kearse was reportedly upset and called the man over, and it seemed he was trying to confront him. The pedestrian listened, apparently willing to resolve it. But Kearse reportedly lost his cool before the man could explain what he was doing there. It is to be determined whether their exchange concluded at that point or if things simmered down in the interim. Well, the situation unfortunately didn’t end there. Later, Kearse allegedly located the pedestrian at a nearby residence.

The constant confrontation eventually resulted in the battery charge, bringing legal woes to the rapper’s home. This ordeal may be especially difficult for Trina, as she’s no stranger to personal loss and public scrutiny. The Miami rap legend faces another chapter of hard times as her husband works through the legal system. Though more details about the incident are scarce, the arrest has ruffled feathers in hip-hop and tabloid circles. Trina’s fans, who have long embraced her strength and authenticity, are wishing her peace amid the chaos.
