Deme D is a YouTuber, entrepreneur, and the CEO of DagogetaTv Providing Hip Hop Original Content. We had the chance to interview “Deme D” – CEO of DagogetaTv, where he talks about his journey as a Youtuber, the challenges he faces, and how he manages to build a successful YouTube channel.

1. Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Deme D – Basically, it was just my love of music and passion for Hip-Hop culture. I felt the range & diverse taste in rap music could bring a fresh perspective in this lane.

 

2. Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started this career?

Deme D – The most interesting part of my career is getting a chance to see some of these producers in the game creating in their element has been interesting.

 

3. Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

Deme D – Really just amateur mistakes, leaving the AC running while filming, bad lighting, not checking scene footage before moving to the next scene, wardrobe not camera ready. I learned to do a checklist before taping.

 

4. What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?

Deme D – All my shows bring excitement for me truthfully, but I’ll say “If YouAsk Me” “Who’s Next Up” & “Listen Up” are really interesting because of the originality of the shows.

 

5. Who are some of the most interesting people you have interacted with? What was that like? Do you have any stories?

Deme D – Well, I got a chance to interview one of my all-time favorite Mcs Willie the Kid. It was dope to get his story. I feel he represents a high level of lyricism and can still floss about sophisticated high-class life, while still connecting with & encouraging the everyday people.

 

6. Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Deme D –  To thrive I’d say at a minimum you should be working as hard as your peers. Really should be outworking them. I’d say being consistent, having a strategy & goal, looking ahead but not losing sight of the moment. Be stern with your goals and be flexible in your approach. One thing to not burn out: “don’t eat with your Eyes” Taking on too many things at once can affect quality or output.

 

7. You have been blessed with success in a career path that can be challenging. Do you have any words of advice for others who may want to embark on this career path, but seem daunted by the prospect of failure?

Deme D –  I wouldn’t say I’m successful more so have had success in reaching my goals set to keep progressing to where I want to be. Fear is crippling and must be removed from your thought process. Nothing is guaranteed except if you don’t try you really have no chance. You have to expect some losses & failures but the bounce back is what separates the strong from the weak

 

8. Can you share with our readers any self-care routines, practices, or treatments that you do to help your body, mind, or heart to thrive? Kindly share a story or an example for each.

Deme D –  Rest as simple as it may sound, it’s vital. I know an entrepreneur’s motto is “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” but lack of rest can get you there quicker. Another no-no to most is time off lol, maybe not a whole day but can’t stay glued to the screen. Set a time frame to detach. For my mind just a lot of stories from others who’ve made it and let their journey be inspirational. Also just always receptive to different perspectives

 

9. What are your “Things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why? Please share a story or example for each.

Deme D –  I did a lot of research before starting and was already in the mix in the NY indie scene so I don’t really have 5,  I was aware of a lot before starting

I’ll say I wish I knew that you can edit videos even when they’re on your channel already because I put some videos up as it is.

2. wish I knew how important responding to comments is, people, enjoy the interaction makes it more sincere.
3. The importance of lighting is more essential than I realized.

 

10. Can you please give us your favorite  “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

Deme D – “Just cause someone can see doesn’t mean they have vision”. This is very relevant because doing this requires foresight, creative vision, fresh ideas. So you have to understand everyone you come across or work with may not have that

 

11. None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?

Deme D – I’d have to say, my Dad, him being a DJ since the 70s. I got to see his passion for Hip Hop and music overall. I also was able to watch him relentlessly pursue his goals so that was something I was able to emulate and apply to my Hustle.

 

12. You are a person of enormous influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂

Deme D – Honestly, I feel Hip hop is that movement, it is one of the most unifying things we have amongst people from different walks of life. If you give a person a chance never know how much common ground there is. That’s a good thing I’d say.. My debate desk & Twitter page brings people together of all ages & backgrounds. I’d like to see more artists in the mainstream that really put into their craft however
