C’batch revives his “Unfinished Business” era on new album “The Vault 1 (C’batch Smooth / Rough)”

C’batch returns with “The Vault 1 (C’batch Smooth / Rough),” a bold 18-track album that transforms unfinished ideas into a captivating listen. Created from materials from his “Unfinished Business” era, the composer, guitarist, and producer Stephen H. Cumberbatch reworks old recordings with modern production.

The album starts with the special track, “Song For God,” a very meditative song, and it immediately sets the tone for the album. With gentle guitar work and contemplative sounds, it creates a mood of serenity, drawing you into the album’s contemplative environment. “Round & Round” then explores themes of repetition and reflection with elegant arrangements and flowing instrumentation. Different versions of “Just into You” show the emotional side of a single musical idea, and exemplify C’batch’s desire to look at his work again with fresh eyes.
