Music gets more crowded by the day, especially with a genre like Hip Hop. One of the few genres of music that one can decide they want to pursue, by the end of the day, have a complete record due to the easy access to the tools needed. To stand out, it’s best to be honest, and bring your original sound. Something that people have to come to you for, and Allapattah rapper Davito Green embodies an exceptional talent leading his creative milestone into the light of fame.

This week we talked with Davito Green, who was kind enough to share his journey through the music scenes. Who is Davito Green? Sounds alien? How does he intend to engrave a mark with his music? Check out the interview below and let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Let’s start by introducing yourself. You know the basics, like name, age, and where you’re from, as much or little as you’re comfortable sharing.

Davito Green: Davito Green (born September 13, 1992) is an Afro-Latino artist from Allapattah, Miami, Fl, with a story to tell. One of South Florida’s best-kept secrets. Raised by a single mother of 5 battling an alcohol addiction, his life took an unexpected turn after their home was foreclosure, and they were evicted when he was 16.

What’s the best advice you ever received concerning music?

Davito Green: Bet on yourself. I spent a lot of time being loyal to the wrong people and being a team player on the bad team.

What would you have done differently if you knew then what you know now?

Davito Green: Im focused on what Im doing now. I can’t go back and change anything in the past.

What is still your biggest challenge?

Davito Green: Doing everything myself, from recording to mixing and mastering my music, directing my videos, making my cover art, and learning how to market music.

What keeps you going when things get tough in the music industry?

Davito Green: Making music that’s my therapy. I used to avoid talking about my pain, but I make my best music when I let it out.

If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?

Davito Green: Lil Baby. , we speak to the same people, every kid that grew up in the hood trying to make it out by any means. I was that kid. I give my listeners some game by sharing my story. A lot of kids need some guidance. I know I did.

Please talk me through your creative process.

Davito Green: Ok, so first, I’ll pick a beat that makes me feel something. I don’t think of words initially; I go in with a free mind focusing more on what it feels like. I’ll record a few references that sound like gibberish at first, humming and mumbling, looking for suitable melodies. Once I find a few melodies and cadences, I start plugging in words. I use my voice as an instrument.

How do you solve productivity/scheduling problems and reduce overwhelming situations?

Davito Green: Being more disciplined and organized. Time management is a primary key in life. Plan and execute! You feel different getting to work 30 minutes to an hour early vs. walking 5 minutes late or right on time.

What are you focusing your time on now?

Davito Green: I am an artist, songwriter, and producer. Being a producer, I enjoy the creative process, but I had to make myself a priority. I was the head engineer at Cool and Dre studio from 2019-2022, and trying to push myself as an artist while recording, mixing, and mastering for other artists was challenging.

How do you currently feel about the state of “Your genre” in general?

Davito Green: Hip-Hop is over-saturated, but 90% of the artist ain’t saying anything, so I feel good cause when people hear my music, they listen.

Kalpee Honors Heritage and Heart on His Emotion-Rich New EP Dougla Boi

Kalpee

Kalpee is back with Dougla Boi, a beautiful new EP that is both personal and powerful. It gives listeners a close look at the layers of identity, heritage, and emotion that make him who he is. The Trinidad and Tobago artist is confident in his own space, which is rooted in New Calypso and polished with hints of dancehall, R&B, and afrobeats. In this space, genre bends, but emotion leads.

Named after the Trinidadian word for someone of mixed African and Indian heritage, Dougla Boi is honest, proud, and warm about the complexities of culture. Kalpee opens a window into the dualities that define him across six tracks, turning personal truth into universal resonance. The EP is just under 19 minutes long, but every second is carefully planned to take listeners on a journey through courage, joy, healing, and the quiet strength that comes from accepting all parts of yourself.

The first single, “Under,” stands out right away for its calming yet emotionally charged experience. Kalpee’s voice flows over a beat that sounds both new and old, fitting the EP’s theme of bringing cultures together. It’s one of the best examples of how he can mix soft and hard sounds, which is what makes his New Calypso sound so unique.

“Everybody,” which features Full Blown, is another excellent song that has already done very well. It has a happy vibe and an infectious bounce, making it one of the EP’s most replayable songs. “Everybody” captures the spirit of community and shared experience, which is what Kalpee means when he says that identity is not a box but a rhythm.
