You Can’t Push Rock Duo, Tarah Who?, Around!

Hello Tarah Who?! Thank you for speaking with me today!
CH : Thank you for having us!!
TGC: Hi! Thank you for having us!
You all just released a music video for your song, ‘Push Me’! Will you tell us about the video?
CH : We had an amazing time shooting the video !! Our friends from Yur Mum were here and we always have fun together!!
TGC: it was so nice to have Yur Mum coming all the way from the UK to LA so that we could create this really fun video. It was also our first time working with Javier Caudillo as a director and Alex Ochoa as our Dp and I really enjoyed the vibe and the way they work.
We did a lot of improvisation, and all the shots are basically one takes of pure fun!
I asked two of my very good friends to come and help. Juliane Brenndoerfer is a fashion designer and was our stylist for the shoot. She made the shirts we are wearing and came up with this really cool vine and my other friend Jamie Eun Young Lee came to take all of the bts footage so that we could promote afterwards. The fact that we were all friends working on this video made it really fun and comfortable so that we could do our scenes. 🙂
What was the inspiration for the song and video?
TGC: when Yur Mum and Tarah Who? Decided to collaborate on a song, we needed to find a theme that was going to work with both bands. We are both hard working independent bands so talking about the current music industry, not evolving seemed to be a topic that we could feel close to.
I had watched the Grammy awards live, waiting for the Rock category, to find that they had completely skipped it. I looked it up and saw that FIONA APPLE, Brittany Howard for instance had won and performed but they didn’t show it on the live TV. We, as women in Rock already have a hard time being recognized and noticed, or even taken seriously that when they WIN they don’t even have the decency to show it on live TV like the rest of the winners.
So.. “Push Me” is about all of us, independent bands, women in rock music, any artists working hard in their own craft and not being recognized.
What was the most interesting / surreal part of the whole process?
CH : We kind of went with the flow when we were shooting the video, everything that you see is pretty much only one take hahaha !!
TGC: The production of the song was kind of fun because we were sending each other tracks. I was working on the song with Jason Orme, our producer so i knew where it was headed and i usually have a pretty clear idea in mind of what the song is going to sound like. I was a little apprehensive to show it to Ani and Fabio, but they really enjoyed it so, fiuuuu!! 😉
What was surreal to me was that UK-US borders had JUST re-opened so we jumped on the occasion to make something really special and unique with the video. Outside of adding wonderful memories to our friendship, we have something unique to share to the world. The message behind it being essentially to show that 2 independent bands CAN work together and create something colorful, meaningful and relatable to many industries.
Who would you say inspires you all and what/how you create?
TGC: I don’t think it’s one person. It’s everyone around me and energy. I try to follow my instinct as much as I can. I knew I wanted to work with Yur Mum, more than just touring together. We adore them. They work really hard, they’re live performance is fun and really really good! We went through a similar situation becoming a duo and we have made it work. The idea was to help each other introduce one another to our own crowd. We have our own style but if you love Rock, you will love Yur Mum and so I wanted Tarah Who? Fans to discover them and Yur Mum’s fans have discovered us too.
When we did the music video together, I would watch them act and that inspired me and challenged me to give my best and to put my fears away so that I wouldn’t waste such an opportunity to have them here and now. Javier and Alex inspired me too, to give my best on every shot because they were so into their work that I didn’t want to be the one who was going to ruin it! Lol!
So in a way, we push each other and inspire each other and I think that’s what help me give my best.
We are officially a month into the new year! What are some of your aspirations for your music this year?
CH : Hopefully we will be able to play more live shows because it has been too long !!
TGC: We have just finished recording new songs to be released with music videos throughout 2022. We are going to release them little by little and book as many shows as we can, while keeping us safe.
Do you have any projects you are working on that you could give our readers and inside scoop on?
TGC: Let’s say that the new year to come is going to be really fun and Rock ’n’ Roll. If you have enjoyed our last music videos, you will be happy with our new stuff! We are really excited!!
CH : We are actually working on our next album which means new music and new videos for you guys !!
As the music world evolves, what are you all currently hoping to see change or improve?
TGC: We are really hoping to be able to spread the word out, tour more. We are independent, so it is hard sometimes to get people to listen because there is so much music out there. I hope that the music industry recognizes more WOMEN in rock music but I am talking real rock ’n roll. Not the pop product with a rock beat on the drums. I want to see a real ROCK band up there. Whether it is us or anyone else, there needs to be some Female Rock band making good waves.
What piece of advice would you give artists who are trying to find their place in the music industry?
CH : I hope they are ready to work hard and do a lot by themselves independently so good luck hahaha !!
TGC: Finding your team is the hardest. If you are a band, make sure that you all have the same vision. Be clear about everything so you don’t have surprises. You will, but the more you keep your head straight the further you will go. Don’t try to sound like someone who already exists, be authentic, do your thing, be strong minded, get into the music business of things.
Please let everyone know where they can keep up with your work!

E.G. Phillips unveils where silence speaks the loudest on new release “Empathy for the Night Fly”
The mood of E.G. PHILLIPS’s “Empathy for the Night Fly” is instantly cinematic, dark, introspective, and frozen in time. The track sounds like a scene from a late-night club where everything slows down just enough for feelings to come out. The arrangement is jazz-like in that it lets each part breathe. The arpeggiating Rhodes piano comes and goes, giving the impression that the music is thinking, as if it’s moving.
The song is really about recognition, which is when you hear something in someone else’s voice that reminds you of your own experience. It’s subtle, almost fragile, but it has a big effect on people. That emotional connection is what holds the piece together.
That choice seems deliberate, even defiant. It asks the listener to pay attention differently, not just passively. Every break is a part of the story. E.G. Phillips doesn’t just make the mood; he keeps it going. In that space, “Empathy for the Night Fly” becomes a quiet, powerful look at memory, connection, and shared feelings.

Firecamino maintains folk storytelling with new release “Juan The Baptist”
“Juan the Baptist” is a stunning single by Firecamino, blending vivid storytelling with charming melody. The laid-back indie song with folk and country influences sounds like an ancient story told around a campfire after a long night.
The song’s central character is a misguided hero, vulnerable and human. Firecamino emphasizes imperfection over perfection, creating a relatable protagonist. That storytelling gives the song a cinematic, intimate feel.
“Juan the Baptist” handles several musical influences well. Folk-inspired writing and country textures add emotion and familiarity. Meanwhile, the cool indie vibe smooths the edges and lets the track flow naturally without being dramatic.
